With over 20 years of combined experience in golf, synthetic turf, and business, Florida Synthetic Turf has established itself as a premier designer and installer of synthetic turf. Serving Central Florida and beyond, the company operates multiple crews throughout Florida, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, with plans to further expand across the Southeast. Whether for golf greens, residential lawns, or commercial projects, Florida Synthetic Turf delivers exceptional quality tailored to the unique needs of the Central Florida market.
Meet Our Team
Dean -
Relatively new to the Synthetic Turf industry, Dean spent 18 years as an award-winning PGA Professional within the Middle Atlantic and North Florida Sections. Dean shares the same love of the game of golf as the many members and fee players that he would host, teach and play alongside while managing the business side of the club where he hung his hat. His biggest career thrill was to work alongside Johnny Miller and the JMDesign team as the Director of Golf while building and growing in the Harmony Golf Preserve in Central Florida. As the General Manager for Florida Synthetic Turf, it's that same passion that now drives Dean to deliver the excitement from start to finish of a Synthetic Turf build of a Putting Green, Lawn and or Pet area for Residential and Commercial alike. "There is nothing like seeing the reactions of our clients who roll putts for the very first time on their green and know that I had a hand in helping design and build it. Dean is a proud resident of Chuluota Florida. Loves spending time with his wife Michelle, especially with a glass of wine and all his adult children. And of course, Luca too, the family Bernese Mountain dog.
Jay -
After graduation, Jay was 'drafted' to become Bethlehem Steel's head golf professional at age 19. He joined the PGA of America, becoming a Class A member at age 21. At the same time, as a full-time student at Northampton College, Jay ran the 27-hole Donald Ross course, becoming General Manager through the transition to a private club named Silver Creek. After 25 years and a move to Jacksonville, Fl., he was introduced to Tour Greens owners in 2012. Thus began a great journey with the cutting-edge synthetic turf putting green company with 30 years of experience in creating many advancements in yarn, turf and construction methods. After working on numerous complex projects together, including 1st Tee Gulf Coast and Balsam Mountain's target green complex, Jay and Matt Morman developed a relationship that exists to this day.
Matt Morman - Managing Partner
Matt was born and raised in Westerville, OH and attended high school at Columbus Academy. He went on to earn his Business Degree with a specialization in Professional Golf Management from Mississippi State University. This was followed by 13 years as a PGA of America Professional with time spent at Scioto Country Club, Jim McLean Golf Schools and lastly as the Director of Golf at Shooting Star in Jackson Hole, WY.
Matt met Michele (Category Manager for Cardinal Health) in 2007, and they married in 2009. They have two growing children, Mackenzie Grace and Rexford Hayes, and live in Gahanna, Ohio.
Matt started in the synthetic industry in 2013 as a Regional Sales Manager for The Recreational Group (XGrass, Tour Greens, Versacourt). In 2015 Matt was promoted to Vice President of Operations for the Tour Greens brand and focused on growing the Tour Greens dealer network and large scale golf specific projects. In 2017 Matt started Tour Greens Columbus, which became Tour Greens Ohio in 2018. Also in 2018 Matt partnered with Connor Sweeney (Tour Greens Michigan) and Mark Pflaumer (Tour Greens WNY) to create Midwest Synthetic Turf. The group installed putting greens across 7 states. Connor and Matt took MST to the Florida market in 2020 and in 2023 started Florida Synthetic Turf (Tour Greens North Florida & Central Florida). Matt and Connor continue to own Florida Synthetic Turf together, with Matt serving as the CEO, but have split their northern businesses. Matt is the sole owner and operator of Maxx Turf (Tour Greens Ohio & Indiana). Matt has sold and installed over 1,000 synthetic turf projects across 19 states including California, North Dakota and Alabama.
Connor Sweeney - Managing Partner
After 5 years as CRO/COO of a large IT Equipment Refurbishing Company, Connor decided he wanted to chase his passion in Golf & Construction. Owning a Hole in One Insurance & Event Business in the space for 7 Years, he was shopping for a “fake” green for a contest. Somehow he ended up on the phone with a turf company (Tour Greens) and they sold him the Michigan Dealership. Over the years, Florida Synthetic Turf has evolved into what it is today. Connor played NAIA Golf at Holy Cross in South Bend. Connor and his wife, Staci, live in Holland Michigan with their three children Carson (14), Jace (8), Brynn (5)
